Very soft blue porcelain bowls
The clay is from the island of Kyushu in Japan,
the same area that Arita ceramics come from.
This porcelain is processed by wooden
pounders that give it an unusual strength. It is
then mixed half and half with clay from Kyoto.
Many firings later I got this soft blue glaze.
The color is achieved by adding regular ash to
a base of natural feldspar, rice stalk ash and
red pine ash.
