for the flames and the pressure that occurs in
a wood burning noborigama. There are a few
"ishihaze" spots, stones native to the
unprocessed clay I use.
The softness in the finished surface can only
be found in unglazed ware that is fired in the
Japanese Nanban style. Other unglazed styles
use ash glaze to achieve decoration. Nanban
only relies on the clay and fire.
